When to call an emergency electrician
Call right away if you smell burning near outlets or the panel, see sparks, scorch marks or melted wiring, hear buzzing from the panel, have a breaker that trips again as soon as it’s reset, or lose power to part of the building while your neighbors still have theirs. Water near electrical equipment after a storm or flood is also an emergency: stay out of the area and keep away from the panel.
If your whole street is dark, the problem is usually on the utility side, so report it to PSEG Long Island. If a power line is down, stay well away and call 911 and PSEG Long Island.

How quickly can you get here?

Is it an emergency, or can it wait?
Burning smells, sparks, buzzing, heat, scorch marks, water near electrical equipment and breakers that trip right after a reset are emergencies. A single dead outlet or a light that won’t turn on can usually wait for a regular appointment. If you’re not sure, call and ask.
Should I reset a tripped breaker?
If there’s no water near the panel and no burning smell, smoke, heat, buzzing or sparks, you can reset a single tripped breaker once. If it trips again, leave it off and call an electrician. Never remove the panel cover.
Do you repair standby generators in an emergency?
Yes. We repair and service standby generators, including during extended outages, to get backup power running again.
